4 Key Strategies to Stand Out on Social Media

“Buy this!” “Look here!” “Schedule now!”

You might think you’re at a noisy flea market or an overly crowded bazaar full of pushy vendors. But no, my friend, you’re just scrollin’ through your Facebook or Instagram feed.

If you’ve posted on social media for any length of time, you already know how stuffed it is with services, deals, offers and businesses – including holistic healthcare practices like yours – clamoring for the attention of their ideal clients.

Whether it’s the perfectly curated Insta-worthy post or the cleverly filmed Story, tons of health content gets churned out every day. There are countless practitioners trying to make their practices stand out on social media. It starts to feel like a cutthroat place to make a difference and genuinely improve people’s lives.

So, how can you actually stand out on social media and show how YOU are different from every chiropractor, health coach, acupuncturist, etc. out there?

Don’t worry, we’ve got you. Here are 4 ways you can stand out amongst the sea of sameness regardless of what platform you’re on.

1. Know Who You’re Talking To

You’ve heard time and time again about the importance of specializing and narrowing down your focus on who you serve (AKA niching down). We know it can feel scary and nerve-wracking, but it’s a total game-changer.

When you niche down, you show potential patients that you know your stuff – that you’re a credible authority and specialist in your field. At the same time, niching down also helps you attract more of the patients you LOVE to work with.

From a social media or marketing perspective, having a niche makes it sooooo much easier to speak to your perfect patient. It helps you:

  • Speak directly to your ideal patient’s pain points and how you can address them.
  • Create content that’s unique to what your ideal patient is going through.
  • Speak and write using your perfect patients’ language so they feel heard.

If you’re stuck on niching down, here are a few resources to get you going:

Remember – patients want specialists.

They don’t want to go to a general doc-in-a-box for Hashimoto’s. They want someone they can trust and someone who they know without a doubt can help manage their thyroid and help them feel better. Niching down is what shows them that you’re the perfect clinician that can really help them feel better.

2. Get Specific and Offer Your Readers Something That’ll Really Help Them

When so many others are out there doing what you do, it can feel like you don’t have anything unique to offer. For example, maybe you think every health coach out there is already posting about needing to drink half your body weight in ounces. So, why should you?

Well, if that health coach is only spouting off numbers and stats, they’re missing a HUGE opportunity.

Creating content on social media isn’t about regurgitating what you learned in school. It’s more than that. It’s about you giving information that’s specific to your ideal patient – the ones that give you that pep in your step and make you excited to jump out of bed everyday.

So, instead of telling them to guzzle 64 ounces of water each day, spur them into action. Add your unique perspective and offer fresh angles on the information. Share about creative ways they can sneak in hydration, like through their food or using a tracker or app.

3. Get Insightful

Social media is overflowing with practitioners who want to sell something. But what’s missing are the people who genuinely want to provide value – without always asking for something in return.

So, take your information one step further and get insightful. Push past throwing out stats. Take what you’ve learned and transform it into practical information that your readers can apply to their lives today!

Let’s use the hydration example. Don’t just limit your post to how they can drink more water. If you work with patients who have diabetes, explain how water can lower blood glucose levels by reducing the concentration of glucose within their bloodstream.1 Then, give ideas on how your reader can stay hydrated and help manage their diabetes at the same time.

Adding additional insight to your post takes it to the next level and shows your reader that:

1.) you care about them

AND

2.) you’re the go-to, trusted clinician who can help them with their specific condition.

This shift alone is enough to give you a huge advantage over the rest.

4. Relate, Relate, and Then Relate Some More

People do business with people they know, like, and trust. Have you heard that saying before? Well, when it comes to healthcare, that couldn’t be more true.

Letting your audience see who you are and what’s important to you matters. So, don’t be afraid to get a little vulnerable. Share things like:

  • why you became a practitioner
  • why you chose your specialty
  • how you actually practice what you preach
  • why you continue to up your clinician game so you can better support your patients

Remember, social media was originally intended for connection. So don’t be afraid to be you, be vulnerable and to connect.

Start Standing Out on Social Media Today

It can feel overwhelming to make your practice stand out on social media, especially when the rules (and algorithms) keep changing. It can easily feel like you’re trying to build a house during an earthquake.

But remember – the more authentic, vulnerable, and service-oriented you are, the more you’ll be able to shine.

And these types of posts will remain standing after all the other fluff and stuff is gone.

Plus, those incredible habits you’re creating on social media will start showing up in all the other ways you market your practice. Soon, you’ll be known as the practitioner who really does care and wants to help their patients – even when it comes to your marketing material. And that, dear friend, is truly magnetic.
