To create dramatic improvement at the level of the clinical team, healthcare leaders must be able to authorize appropriate investment and have administrative oversight of the clinical teams which are involved in the development of a pilot. They must have a willingness to actively participate in the development of an agreement with the clinical service that will be involved in the pilot. This approach helps ensure success and improves the leader's understanding and skills in leading significant successful innovation at the team level.
